10 more Ukrainian soldiers released from Russian captivity

As part of the exchange of prisoners of war, Ukraine managed to bring home 10 Ukrainian defenders and recover the body of a dead American volunteer.

Details: According to Yermak, an officer and 9 privates and sergeants have been released from Russian captivity. The body of an American volunteer, US Army veteran Joshua Alan Jones, who fought for Ukraine and died in a battle with the Russian invaders, has been handed over to the Ukrainian side as well.

Yermak thanked the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War for their work.

Background:

  • On 17 October, it was revealed that Ukraine had managed to bring home 108 women as a result of another prisoner swap between Ukraine and Russia.
  • On 22 October, as part of prisoner exchange with the Russian occupiers, Ukraine succeeded in freeing 215 Ukrainian defenders, including 10 foreigners. The Ukrainian businessman and pro-Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk, to whose daughter Putin is godfather, was sent to Russia together with 55 Russian occupiers.
