The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the special forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have conducted a large-scale special operation in the occupied part of the south of Ukraine. As a result of the operation, they detained a militant of the "DPR" [self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic - ed.] who fought against Ukraine as part of the Russian army.

In 2014, the man voluntarily joined the Russian-controlled illegal armed formations. Later, he received a so-called "passport" from the local occupation administration.

In the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the aforementioned traitor to Ukraine was assigned to the 3rd rifle platoon of the 1st company of the 5th battalion of the 109th regiment of the so-called "people’s militia of the DPR".

The man took an active part in combat actions against the defence forces on the Kherson front.

In addition, there are documented instances of him shooting at civilians in order to force them to confess to their alleged involvement in subversion and reconnaissance groups or Ukrainian partisan groups.

The Security Service of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have established the traitor’s location and detained him (the place of detention has not been reported).

The militia member was notified that he was under suspicion for violating Art. 438.1 (violation of rules of warfare) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and was placed in custody.

The investigation is underway as part of the criminal proceedings under Art. 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law) and Art. 438.1 (violation of rules of warfare) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
