Russian missiles hit residential buildings in central Kyiv, killing at least 1 civilian

On 15 November, air defence shot down four missiles over Kyiv; two missiles hit residential buildings in the city centre.

Details: Residents of the left and right banks of Dnipro River in Kyiv reported the sounds of explosions that rang out in the capital.

An air raid siren has been announced in Kyiv Oblast.

Updated at 17:55: The State Emergency Service has told Ukrainska Pravda that one woman was killed in the attack on Kyiv; she was a resident of one of the apartment blocks in the Pechersk district that was hit by a fragment of a Russian missile. The other residents of the building were not injured. No one is known to be trapped under the rubble. Rescue workers and police officers are working on the scene. The fire that broke out as a result of the strike has been extinguished.

Another missile fragment hit another residential building in the Pechersk district. One apartment has been destroyed, but the residents of the building have been spared. Yet another missile fragment hit the foundation of an abandoned building.

Updated at 17:02: Kyiv City Military Administration reported that one person was killed after a missile hit a residential building in Kyiv’s Pechersk district.

Updated at 16:10: Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported another strike in the Pechersk district of Kyiv; a high-rise building has been hit.

Updated at 15:55: Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine, reported that two Russian missile hits have been reported. The missiles hit residential buildings. 

Updated at 15:35: Mayor Vitalii Klychko said that, according to preliminary information, two residential buildings were hit in Pechersk district of Kyiv. Several missiles were shot down by air defence over Kyiv. Medics and rescuers are at the scene.

Kyiv City Military Administration has reported that four missiles were downed over the capital. Two explosions occurred in the city.

Updated at 15:25: Anti-aircraft defence systems were activated in the city.
