The occupation administration of Mariupol is demolishing a building in the historical centre of the city in order to hide the consequences of Russian bombings.

Quote: "The occupiers got to the historical centre of Mariupol.

The building being demolished is Myr Avenue, 85. This is another attempt on the part of the occupiers to hide the consequences of bombings by Russian planes.

Thus, the history of Mariupol of the period after WWII is being reduced to rubble. Mariupol has been turned into a city that its own residents fail to recognize in photos. This is the city which remains alive only in the residents’ memories but is dead in [terms of] architecture, dead in reality."

Background: Earlier, Andriushchenko reported that the Russian occupiers were planning to restore demolished monuments to Vladimir Lenin in Mariupol.

On early 19 October, the occupiers demolished the memorial to the victims of the Holodomor [a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians – ed.], erected in the centre of Mariupol in 2004.
