Kremlin awards Order of Courage to its deputy in Kherson Oblast, accused of bribery

Russian authorities have awarded Andrey Alekseyenko, Head of the so-called "government" of the Russian-occupied part of Kharkiv Oblast, with the Order of Courage.

Details: Russian media wrote that Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Russia, awarded Andrey Alekseyenko, Head of the so-called "government" of the Russian-occupied part of Kharkiv Oblast, with the Order of Courage.

The awarding ceremony was held in the Kremlin. Alekseyenko, as noted, was awarded "for courage and selflessness, shown during the rescue of people in an emergency situation, brave and decisive actions performed in the performance of official duty."

For reference: Alekseyenko became head of the Russian-appointed government of the temporarily occupied Kherson Oblast at the end of November.

Before that, he was the chairman of the Council of Ministers of the part of Kharkiv Oblast occupied by Russian troops.

Alekseyenko joined the occupation administration from the post of the Mayor of Krasnodar, which he took up in the autumn of 2021.

He became a suspect in a case involving a bribe involving a particularly large amount in December 2021. The termination of Alekseyenko’s criminal prosecution has not been reported in public sources.
