The United States has no information that weapons being supplied to Ukraine as military aid to counter the full-scale Russian invasion are being misused.

Quote: "As of now, we do not have any reliable information that would indicate whether there were cases of diversion of aid to Ukraine for illegal purposes. And, I think, the results on the battlefield in this case speak for themselves."

"We continue to observe that the Ukrainians take the capabilities provided to them by the United States and the international community and use them extremely effectively to defend their state and regain sovereign territory," the Pentagon Press Secretary added.

Background: In early November, the Pentagon announced that a small number of U.S. military forces inside Ukraine have recently begun doing onsite inspections to ensure that Ukrainian troops are properly accounting for the Western-provided weapons they receive.

The presence of American troops in Ukraine became known after the announcement by the Department of State of a plan aimed at preventing Western weapons provided to Ukraine from falling into the hands of Russian troops or their mercenaries.

Congressmen have long complained to the White House about the lack of transparency in reporting billions of dollars spent on military aid to Ukraine. Joe Biden's Administration has been reluctant to talk about it for fear it could tip off smugglers to potential tax evasion methods.

The United States has allocated more than USD$19 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russian troops invaded the country in February, and Washington wants to make sure it is not misused.
