Ukrainian Minister of Energy hopes there will be light on New Year’s Eve, but it’s hard to plan anything

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, asserted that Ukrainians would be able to meet the New Year with lights on, provided that there won’t be new damage done to the energy system.

Details: While there is no shelling, experts are trying to reduce the deficit in the energy system by increasing the production of electricity. This is happening, Halushchenko said.

The transferability of electricity from generation to consumption is also increasing.

Ukrainians celebrated this Christmas with lights on, but the Minister of Energy cannot yet say whether it will be possible on New Year's Eve.

Quote: "There is a feeling that in fact they [Russians – ed.] have not given up on continuing to target our power system. They are tied to certain dates. And maybe the New Year is one of those dates when they will try to damage our power system as much as possible. But the situation is that it is difficult to plan anything."

Details: Halushchenko pins his hopes on the Armed Forces of Ukraine and notes that during the last shelling, they protected Ukrainian skies quite effectively.

He hopes that even if there are hits, the energy specialists will quickly restore the system.

Halushchenko expects that Ukrainians will be able to welcome the New Year with electricity.

Quote: "Today, the entire energy industry works 24/7. And the results of this work can be seen every hour. We monitor the situation around the clock, energy specialists are working, headquarters are working..."
