Details: There is information about the "gradual preparation of defensive lines around Luhansk" circulating among the officers of the Second Army Corps of the Russian Federation, which is deployed in Luhansk, Gromov says.

The General Staff, citing Russians, reports that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine break through the defensive lines near the settlements of Svatove and Kreminna and, accordingly, the hostilities move to Luhansk, a significant part of the Russian forces – especially mobilised units – plan to surrender.

Background:

  • Earlier, Serhii Haidai, Head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, reported that fierce battles were taking place near the city of Kreminna, with the Russians drawing a lot of forces and resources there in an attempt to hold the city, but the liberation of Kreminna may come as early as the beginning of 2023.
