Russia will not negotiate on conditions of Zelenskyy’s peace formula – Russian Foreign Minister

Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, has stated that Russia refuses to negotiate with Ukraine on the basis of the "peace formula" proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Quote from Lavrov: "Putting forward all kinds of ideas and ‘peace formulas’, V. Zelenskyy nurtures the illusion of achieving, with the help of the West, the withdrawal of our troops from the Russian territory of Donbas, Crimea, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblasts, the payment of reparations by Russia, the surrender to international tribunals, etc.

Of course, we will not hold talks with anyone under such conditions."

Details: At the same time, the Russian minister states that allegedly Kyiv is not ready for dialogue.

According to Lavrov, "the current circle of Ukrainian politicians is well known to everyone for their inability to negotiate" and allegedly "most of them are outright Russophobes".

He also added that several rounds of negotiations immediately after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine allegedly showed Russia that "mutually acceptable agreements can be found."

But in April, Zelenskyy allegedly "quickly stopped the negotiations and sharply strengthened his position at the order of the Anglo-Saxons, who are interested in continuing hostilities".

Background:
In November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined 10 proposals that comprise Ukraine’s "formula for peace" in his video address to the G20 summit.

On 21 December, in an address to the US Congress, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he discussed the Ukrainian peace formula with Joe Biden, and the American leader supported the idea of holding a peace summit.

The government of Ukraine aims to hold the previously announced "peace formula" summit proposed by Kyiv by the end of February 2023, with UN Secretary General António Guterres being considered as the mediator.
