Details: Nuland also said that auditors are in Kyiv this week to ensure accountability for American military and financial aid.

She stated that the US was ready to consider the possibility of softening anti-Russian sanctions in the event of the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.

Background: On 25 January, US President Joe Biden announced that the United States would hand over 31 M1 Abrams tanks and spare parts to Ukraine.

Reference: M1 Abrams is the main battle tank of the third generation produced by the USA. The history of the creation of the machine begins with the creation of the MBT-70 tank, which was a joint project of the United States and Germany in the 1960s. It split into two branches: the German Leopard 2 and the American M1 Abrams.

A tank is a well-armed, armoured, mobile combat vehicle designed for combat operations in various conditions of modern wars and armed conflicts.

Important features of the tank are the use of powerful gas turbine engines (running on JP8 jet fuel), equipment with multi-layer anti-projectile composite armour, separate storage of ammunition in an isolated capsule compartment to separate crew members from the impact in the event of a projectile hit into the tank.

The Abrams tank is one of the heaviest tanks in service at the beginning of the 21st century.
