Danilov: difficult period may last for 3 months, but tipping point has passed

Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, has stated that it is difficult to predict the time when the war will end, and victory will not come quickly.

Quote: "Unfortunately, today I cannot name the exact date; whether it [victory] will be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. The hard work is ahead at the frontline, at a long stretch of the frontline, over two thousand kilometres.

We understand that we must cleanse our entire state, including Crimea, of the abomination that has settled here. It's hard work.

And if someone says that it can be done in a week or two, I am not as optimistic. I understand that we have a lot of work ahead this year."

Details: Danilov emphasised that the tipping point in the war has passed.

"Yes, it will be difficult, we can't relax but, believe me, everything will come. Let's wait... The difficult period ahead will last at least a month, month-and-a-half, two, and maybe even three. We have to take this difficult path", the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council said.

According to him, this period is determined by the dates that the Russian authorities set for themselves, namely, the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Background:

  • In early January, Oleksii Danilov stated that there were signs that Russia is preparing for an escalation in February.
  • Citing sources close to the Kremlin, Bloomberg reported that Russia's new offensive could begin in February/March, before Kyiv receives tanks from the United States and Europe.
