Zelenskyy explains why Ukraine's partners should get rid of "aircraft taboo"

After the Russian drone attack on the night of 26 February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised that modern combat aircraft would help to protect Ukrainian skies.

Details: The President recalled that this day began with an attack by Iranian kamikaze drones. Most of them were shot down: 11 drones out of 14. But there were some of them that hit their targets.

Three employees of the State Emergency Service in the city of Khmelnytsky were injured, two died. The second drone hit just when the fire extinguishing began after the first attack, Zelenskyy explained.

Quote: "This is precisely why we need the aircraft component of air defence — modern combat aircraft, so that the entire territory of our country can be protected from Russian terror. Air defence is complete when it is provided, in particular, by aircraft. Modern aircraft.

Our pilots, together with our anti-aircraft fighters and all the soldiers and specialists of our Air Force, are doing a great job. But we will be able to fully protect the sky [only – ed.] when the aircraft taboo in relations with our partners is removed."
