Zelenskyy: It is very tough on the eastern front, but it is necessary to destroy the military power of the enemy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the east of Ukraine is now very "tough and painful", but the future of the country is being decided there.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "As always, today [March 13 – ed.] I was in touch with our commanders, with intelligence. Very tough in the east, very painful. We must destroy the enemy's military power – and we will destroy it.

Bilohorivka and Marinka, Avdiivka and Bakhmut, Vuhledar and Kamianka – and all other places where our future is currently being decided. Where our future is being fought for – [the future of] all Ukrainians."

Details: Zelenskyy thanked the Ukrainian defenders and praised the work of the soldiers of the 92nd Mechanised Brigade for their successful actions in the Bakhmut area.

Background: On 13 March, the commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has reported that the situation around Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast is challenging: the occupiers keep trying to break through the defence and advance into the city centre, but are suffering heavy losses.
