Quote: "No matter who in Russia says that our Patriots have been destroyed, they are still here, they are working, all of them are shooting down Russian missiles. [And they are shooting them down – ed.] as efficiently as possible. Not a single Patriot has been destroyed!"

Details: Zelenskyy said that during the week, the Ukrainian defenders of the sky carried out more than a hundred group airstrikes against occupiers’ positions and rear.

"Almost three dozen missiles and about fifty attack drones were destroyed in seven days. And I would like to celebrate the defenders of the Kyiv [Oblast]’s sky, the 96th Kyiv air defense missile brigade of the Air Force... Thank you! All ‘Kalibrs’ and ‘Kinzhals’ were destroyed during these attacks," the president said.

Background:

  • On 16 June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia allegedly destroyed five Patriot air defence systems near Kyiv and could destroy any building in the centre of the city.
  • Earlier, the Ministry of Defence of Russia announced the alleged destruction of a Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex in Kyiv with the help of a Kinzhal hypersonic missile complex. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied this statement.
  • The White House said that they could not confirm reports of damage to the Patriot system in Ukraine. At the same time, the US admitted that it could have been damaged.
