Russians strike again at peaceful Zaporizhzhia: fire breaks out, 1 person killed and 16 injured

Russian troops have again attacked a civilian infrastructure facility in the city of Zaporizhzhia; local authorities report casualties and one person killed.

Details: The air-raid siren lasted until 21:13 in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Updated: According to Kurtiev, a fire broke out at the site. Unfortunately, there are casualties and a fatality.

"Unfortunately, one person has been killed. My sincere condolences to the family and friends," he added.

As of 20:22, nine people have been reported injured. Later, the number of the wounded increased to 16 people, four of which were children, Malashko said.

Minor damage to medical and educational institutions has been reported. In addition, two multi-storey buildings are known to be damaged.

The police said that at 19:20, Russian missile Iskander-K hit a civilian infrastructure target in Zaporizhzhia.

Denise Brown, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine said that the building of Reikartz hotel was damaged in the strike; among other guests, it also hosts UN staff.

 

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the strike on Zaporizhzhia by the Russians. 

He released another video directly from the scene.

Malashko noted that there could have been many more casualties if people had not taken shelter after the air-raid siren sounded.
