German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck is outraged that the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), unlike other intelligence agencies, was wrong in its predictions about the course of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Source: Habeck in an interview with journalist Stephan Lamby, reported by Die Welt

Details: Habeck said that unlike the UK and US intelligence services, "other intelligence services said that this is just training, it won't come to the worst scenario, but it did". He clarified that he was referring to the German BND.

"[Our] intelligence services predicted that Putin would occupy the whole of Ukraine in 24 or 48 hours," Habeck recollected.

Two days after Russia's full-scale invasion, the German government decided to start high-profilesupplying weapons to Ukraine.

Background: Earlier, the BND launched an internal investigation into the failure to foresee a coup attempt in Russia by the Wagner Group, and BND chief Bruno Kahl may face retirement.

The media also reported that the Bundestag was investigating why German intelligence was not prepared for the events in Afghanistan in 2021, when the Taliban seized power.  The high-profile incident with the exposure of spy Carsten L. at the end of last year is also mentioned.

In addition, Bruno Kahl was in Kyiv on the day of Russia's full-scale invasion and was forced to evacuate.
