Two people have been killed in a Russian attack on Odesa Oblast overnight. Their bodies were found under the ruins of a destroyed grain storage facility. The search and rescue operation is ongoing.

Quote from Kiper: "We have a deceased person due to the Russian attack overnight. A Russian missile hit a warehouse where grain was stored. Two people working at the facility had not been in touch since the night before. The body of one of the missing workers was found under the rubble at 12:15."

Update: At 13:06, Kiper reported that the body of the second person killed in the Russian attack had been found under the rubble.

Previously: Russian forces attacked the port infrastructure in Odesa on the night of 24-25 September, causing significant damage to the Odesa marine terminal building and a hotel, destroying grain storage facilities and damaging warehouse buildings.

Background:

  • On the night of 24-25 September, the Ukrainian Air Force reported a probable launch of Kalibr cruise missiles and Shahed drones from the Black Sea, as well as Oniks supersonic anti-ship missiles, in the direction of Odesa Oblast. Extensive air-raid warnings were issued, and later the all-clear was sounded. 
  • In addition, the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning about launches of Oniks and Kalibr missiles and Shahed drones over the city of Odesa and Odesa Oblast.
  • During the Russian missile attack on Ukraine's southern oblasts on the night of 24-25 September, Ukrainian forces shot down 11 Russian Kalibr missiles and 19 Shahed loitering munitions. One hit damaged Odesa’s maritime terminal, and a fire was put out in a hotel building within the terminal.
