The Ukrainian General Staff reported on 9 December that Ukrainian troops were holding positions on Dnipro's left bank.

Russian military bloggers claimed that the Russian army was striking Ukrainian positions and sinking boats used to transport Ukrainian soldiers to Krynky.

Ukrainian military observer Kostiantyn Mashovets noted earlier that Russian troops were trying to advance east of Krynky and reinforcing their defences southwest of the town of Oleshky (7 km south of Kherson and 4 km from Dnipro), near the village of Pidlisne (8 km south of Kherson and 6 km from Dnipro) and near the settlement of Kardashynky (7 km south of Kherson and 2 km from Dnipro).

Background: In November, reports indicated that the Ukrainian forces were continuing operations on Dnipro's left bank in Kherson Oblast, holding their positions and likely deploying additional infantry.
