Officials who have hindered the development of the Ukrainian defence industry over the years and failed to prepare Ukraine for a large-scale Russian offensive should be mobilised and sent to the front line.

Quote: "Why should some people die, while others can retire on a state pension and pretend to be great strategists? They should be held accountable. Why not form a brigade out of these people? Why are they untouchable and not called up for any fighting under any circumstances? These people should go to the front and share the same danger.

Most of them are adult men who could make a good team to hold Avdiivka. Let them experience for themselves what it’s like to fight without drones, what it’s like to have hundreds of Russian FPVs flying at you and you have nothing to defend yourself with."

Background:

  • On 24 November, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Defence Minister Rustem Umierov, Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi and the ministries to develop a comprehensive mobilisation plan.
  • At a meeting on 1 December, the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief discussed how to resolve the problems of mobilisation and demobilisation in Ukraine.
  • The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) is currently discussing the possibility of delivering enlistment notices via email and registered post.
