Zelenskyy: Ukraine still waiting for US negotiating team, but Iran is now Washington's top priority

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is disappointed that the arrival of a US delegation in Kyiv is being delayed, but Ukraine is still counting on the visit happening.

Details: Zelenskyy confirmed that there is still no certainty about when US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will arrive in Ukraine – a visit he had previously announced.
Quote: "We are in fact in constant contact with the American side regarding our negotiators. We are waiting for the negotiating team to arrive. But in my view, we have been waiting for them for a very long time."
More details: Zelenskyy expressed regret that Ukraine is not a priority for Washington.
Quote: "Sadly, we are not their focus today. Iran is the number one issue for the United States of America, followed by Ukraine. Unfortunately, we are in a queue of these wars."
More details: Zelenskyy nevertheless expects the visit to take place eventually.

Background:
- Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has said negotiations involving the US and Russia are continuing at the technical level despite the current pause in high-level contact.
- On 22 May, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that peace talks on Ukraine had been paused, explaining that the US is "not interested in getting involved in an endless cycle of meetings that lead to nothing". Prior to that, he said there had been no "fruitful outcome" in the peace process regarding Ukraine.
