Details: Telegram channels stated that the attack on the oil refinery in the settlement of Afipsky had begun shortly after midnight. Local residents reported hearing drones flying overhead in intervals of several minutes.
Videos posted online show air defence systems responding and a large fire burning on the refinery's grounds.
"Drone debris fell in the village of Afipsky. A fire has broken out on the territory of the oil refinery as a result," Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters said.
The Afipsky oil refinery is one of the largest refineries in southern Russia, with a design capacity of more than 6 million tonnes of oil per year. The facility produces fuel that is supplied, among other destinations, to the Russian Armed Forces.
Background:
- The refinery has repeatedly been targeted in aerial attacks. In particular, strikes and fires were reported at the facility in August, September, November and December 2025.
- The most recent attack occurred on the night of 13-14 March 2026, when drones damaged the AT-22/4 primary oil processing unit, a key technological component of the refinery.
