Details: Kushner emphasised that Steve Witkoff had met with Putin "many more times" than he had, and described their meeting the previous day as "very constructive and substantive".
"We hadn't been here in six months to the region, and obviously we promised President Zelenskyy that we wanted to come to Ukraine the next time we went to Russia as well," he said.
Kushner said they discussed "a lot of the ideas that haven't worked to date" with Putin.
"We really tried to think about what would the elements be for this durable peace that we've spoken about and what are the things Russia can gain from it, what are the things that Ukraine can gain from it, and what are the things that the world can gain from it. And it was a very good dialogue," he said.
Kushner stressed that one thing he and Witkoff think would be productive is to "go back to the trilateral format".
Quote: "We've spoken with both parties, so hopefully we'll have progress on that very soon (…) There's a lot of new ideas we're putting forward that I think could be useful to that process, and hopefully we'll be able to develop them."
Background:
