Verbatim: "We have inaccurate data on civilians who died because this information was obtained from the police and confirmed by medical institutions. This is a handful of people we know. Yesterday the number was 1,800."

"We talked about an ‘optimistic’ scenario four days ago - about 10,000 casualties as of today. But with the intensity and the brutality increased, we can tell that even if the blockade ends now and we can start searching for these people, the number of casualties is already approaching 20,000."

"However, if we don’t do that  in the coming days, the number will approximate 350,000 - all those who did not have time to leave."

"The bodies are being buried everywhere: in the yards, on the streets. Due to the intensity of the shelling, people cannot even go outside to bury their loved ones. Municipal services do not work, the cemetery is located on territory controlled by the Russian army. Death is everywhere, it is visible. "

Details: There are people who left the city earlier by private car on a premeditated route, according to him. However, they leave at their own risk, because there are no guarantees from the Russian army.

Russians are blocking about 35 buses, nine trucks with food, water, and medicine for Mariupol residents near Berdyansk.

Petro Andryushchenko informed that bombing goes on in the city.

The city had about 350,000 residents before the blockade began, according to him.

Verbatim: "Residents of the city live in basements, shelters. They are all overcrowded, of course. Conditions are inhumane. No food, no water, no electricity, no heat. We dismantled the heating systems and heating mains in order to drain water and drink."

"The last source of water stopped a few days ago. Centralized water supply became impossible due to constant shelling and bombing. The food supply: there was one working shop with more or less adequate stocks. It was purposefully destroyed the day before yesterday."

Details: He added that already 80% of the housing stock in the city is uninhabitable, of which at least 80% can’t be restored.

Verbatim: "Mariupol has had a special role for the last eight years - it is the last largest city in the Donetsk region, which did not recognise these banana republics and did not accept the Russian occupation. For eight long years this city demonstrated what it meant to be a city on the border line, 10 kilometres away from the front lines: Mariupol showed how it can be reborn and become a European city. Now they [the aggressor -ed.] want to show what will happen if someone does not accept the ‘Russian world’ and its terms."

"All points to the fact that people have been deliberately locked up in the city and are being destroyed."

Background: Mariupol City Council issued an official request to be careful with an estimated number of deaths later on.

Verbatim:"The number of casualties is approximating 2357 people in Mariupol, according to the official verified information as of the end of March 14, 2022."

Background: Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andryushchenko previously announced the start of the humanitarian corridor from the city.

Humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol. The occupying forces are holding virtually the entire city captive and will not let humanitarian aid in or allow for an evacuation of the people from the city.

2,187 people had died in Mariupol as a result of Russian airstrikes, according to the city council statement on March 13.
