Mariupol marines: We did not yield, remember the cost of this resistance

Marines from the 36th Independent Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who are defending Mariupol from the Russian forces recorded a video address in which the marines reiterated that they have not yielded their positions and that they remain loyal to Ukraine. They asked that the cost of their resistance be remembered and that Ukraine fights till final victory.

Details: Nahorna explained that she received a video address by the marines from the 36th Brigade "recorded around 05:00 this morning in Mariupol."

She published the video "so that no one can say that ‘they were just hacked’."

The reporter stressed that the marines "are still holding on, but there’s barely anything to hold on to," so "it’s a matter of hours."

The marines said: "Glory to Ukraine! We are the defenders of Mariupol, the 36th Marine Brigade, who have defended and will defend this city until the very end. We have never yielded. We have held on to every inch of this city as long as we could. But the reality is such that the city is really blockaded, encircled – there have been no supplies of ammunition or food.

We have held the line until the end. We are grateful to every Ukrainian who had faith in, and continues to have faith in the marines. This faith has sustained us for so long. We have not yielded. We have remained loyal and will remain loyal forever.

Every Ukrainian must remember the cost of this resistance and finish the job: to fight until the final victory. Ukraine, Europe, the world…We believe in victory and we are forever loyal, loyal till the very end."

Details: Nahorna called for help for the marines.

"These people are asking us to continue fighting; they say that they have held until the very end, despite being encircled – but they have not been imprisoned and no one has forced them to say those things," she stressed.

"Yes, there is nothing left to defend themselves with. But no one in the world has the right to accuse them that there are no means of defence left. They have held back a thousands-strong horde by virtue of their courage and character," the journalist added.
