Quote from the General Staff: "The enemy continues its offensive in the Skhid [East] Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions and in order to maintain a land corridor with the temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea.

Additionally, the enemy is creating tension in the Transnistria region of the Republic of Moldova. [Russian troops] are regrouping on certain fronts and undertaking measures to replenish their supplies. They are trying to improve the tactical positions of their units."

Details: No active action on the Volyn, Polissia and Sieverskyi fronts.

On the Slobozhanskyi front, Russian troops continued to shell the city of Kharkiv and carried out reconnaissance of Ukrainian Defence Forces’ positions. Russian troops continued to conduct artillery and mortar shelling north of Izium.

On the Donetsk and Tavriia fronts, Russian troops continued firing artillery along the entire line of contact. They are deploying aircraft to carry out missile and bomb strikes in order to constrain the actions of Ukrainian troops.

Units of Russian troops are attempting to advance on the Lyman, Sievierodonetsk, and Popasna fronts, but have not succeeded so far.

The invading troops continued shelling the positions of Ukraine’s defence forces on the Avdiivka and Kurakhove fronts.

In Mariupol, the efforts of the Russian occupying forces are focused on blockading and attempting to destroy those units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that remain at the Azovstal steel works. Russian troops have renewed their offensive on the steel works, now with air support, in order to secure control over its entire territory.

According to available information, some soldiers from the 38th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the 35th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Federation refused to further participate in hostilities in Ukraine after withdrawing to recover significant personnel losses.

These soldiers are currently stationed in the area near the Ukrainian-Russian border and are awaiting transfer to the Russian Federation.

The General Staff reports that "Units of fighters of the 2nd Army Corps of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District [of the Russian Federation] stationed in the village of Svatove District of the Luhansk Region, staffed by locals from nearby villages, have low morale, significant problems with weapons and means of defence, and are unprepared to carry out tasks."

Russian troops did not conduct active hostilities on the Pivdennyi Buh front. They carried out missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian positions and the region’s infrastructure.

Due to the successful actions of Ukrainian defenders, Russian forces have lost control over several settlements on the border of the Mykolaiv and Kherson Regions.

On Wednesday, 4 May, Air Defence units of the Air Force and the Land Forces shot down 9 Russian air targets: 4 UAVs (2 of them shot down by anti-aircraft missile units of the Land Forces), 3 cruise missiles, and 2 aircraft (Su-30 fighter jets, according to preliminary information). The information is being confirmed.

11 Russian attacks have been repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions over the past 24 hours; 5 Russian tanks, 7 armoured combat vehicles and 5 motor vehicles have been destroyed.
