Quote: "Now the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada have left, and I am still here. I'd like to thank them today. We often criticise them, but they did a very good job today.

I am grateful to all our people’s deputies who supported our European integration. I would like to note the vote in favour of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. This Convention is often called the Istanbul Convention [..]. It has been ‘undermined’ in Ukraine for decades. Though its main content is simple: it is the obligation to protect [women] from violence and various forms of discrimination."

Details: Zelenskyy also thanked the deputies who supported the waste management law.

"We have been struggling for this for three years. The law has been rejected several times due to oligarchic influence, and now it has finally been passed. Thank you, " he said.

The President also called the adoption of an anti-corruption strategy very important.

"I hope that the Verkhovna Rada will continue to work with significant outcomes like these," Zelenskyy said.

Background: On Monday, the Verkhovna Rada voted to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, better known as the Istanbul Convention.

The Parliament also voted in favour of a draft law on waste management, which harmonises the principles of extended producer responsibility and local authorities’ involvement in the process.

The law "On the Principles of the State Anti-corruption Policy for 2021-2025" was also adopted.
