Details: Jahongir Jalolov, chairman of the board of the regional public organisation Society of Central Asian Uzbeks of the Perm Region, has called for the creation of a volunteer battalion.

According to him, the citizens of Uzbekistan should support the invasion of Ukraine and take part in the war to "justify the bread that we eat", because they live and work in Russia.

The embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia subsequently issued a warning about criminal liability for participating in a war on the side of another state and urged people not to succumb to provocations.

They explained that according to the laws of the country, participation in armed conflicts or military operations on the territories of foreign states is a criminal offence. Therefore, they warn that all persons who go to war will be brought to justice.

Background: On 8 August, Russian publications reported that in Russia, since the spring, there has been the formation of so-called "volunteer" detachments for the war in Ukraine: 40 such units have already been created in 20 regions.
