A woman working as a security guard at a local university has been killed in the Russian attack on Kharkiv on the morning of 19 August. A man was injured in the town of Pechenihy, Kharkiv Oblast.

Quote from Syniehubov: "This morning the enemy once again ruthlessly fired on Kharkiv’s civilian residents. At least five missile strikes took place around 06:00 in the Kyivskyi, Nemyshlianskyi and Osnovianskyi neighbourhoods of Kharkiv.

A university building was destroyed in the Kyivskyi neighbourhood,and the premises of a local business were damaged in the Osnovianskyi neighbourhood. The missiles hit two private houses in the Nemyshlianskyi neighbourhood."

Details: Reports as of 08:28 indicate that one woman has been killed; she worked as a security guard at the university that was struck.

Emergency services are at work at the sites of the missile strikes. Information as to the number of casualties and the extent of destruction has yet to be confirmed.

The information from the SES suggests that a three-storey building of a local university, a storage warehouse [belonging to a local business - ed.], and private homes have been damaged or destroyed in Kharkiv following the Russian attack. Early reports indicate that one person has been killed in the Kyivskyi neighbourhood.

SES units are involved in extinguishing the fire that broke out in the local business’s warehouse in the Osnovianskyi neighbourhood and which has spread over a total area of around 500 square metres.

In addition, Russian forces used artillery to continue shelling towns and villages in the Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv districts of Kharkiv Oblast over the course of Thursday, 18 August.

Syniehubov said that the shelling had damaged residential buildings and outbuildings, and caused grass and wheat in a field to catch fire.

In the Zolochiv hromada (amalgamated territorial community), fires broke out in a local club, a library and in several fields as a result of the Russian attacks.

A 68-year-old man was injured in the town of Pechenihy in the Chuhuiv district.

Fires caused by Russian shelling occurred in the Chuhuiv (2) and Kharkiv (1) districts of the oblast, as well as the Kholodnohirsky (1), Osnovianskyi (1) and Saltivskyi (1) districts of the city of Kharkiv.
