Details: According to the Minister, in Kharkiv Oblast, the counteroffensive was like a "snowball", and it passed significantly "better than expected".

Reznikov said that the almost simultaneous counteroffensive around Kherson is progressing more slowly since it is an agricultural region "with irrigation channels" that the Russians can use as defensive trenches.

Reznikov also said that Chechens  are being used in southern Ukraine to prevent frontline troops from leaving their positions.

Background: On 10 September, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a unit of "Kadyrovites" [Chechen armed formations that support Ramzan Kadyrov, the pro-Russian leader of Chechnya] numbering up to 1300 people was being deployed in Ukraine. On 12 September, Kadyrov stated that 10,000 of his men had arrived in Ukraine again.

Before the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces began, pinpoint strikes destroyed bridges and crossings used by the Russians to deliver military equipment to Kherson, from the left bank of the Dnipro river to the right.
