War to end only after all of Ukraine is liberated — Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine must reclaim all of its occupied territories, and only then will it be possible to talk about the end of the war.

Quote: "If it is not completely clear that we have recovered our territories, and the war is over and there is peace, and if something continues to be questionable; that some parts are not liberated, and the other parts are under some sort of compromise – then, believe me, Russia will keep coming back to occupy our land".

Details: Unfortunately, Ukraine cannot bring back its dead citizens, but we can restore justice, which begins with reclaiming our territories, the President said.

Background:

  • On 16 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that he "would do everything" to end the war as soon as possible, but he was indignant that Ukraine wanted to win militarily.
  • Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the Head of the President’s Office, is convinced that at the moment there is no point either in negotiations or in the meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin.
  • Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that it is not yet possible to talk about a quick end of the war in Ukraine, despite the successful counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine [in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts].
