Russia launches missile strikes on Kharkiv and Oblast, power completely cut off, water supply failures reported

Russian forces carried out an attack on an energy infrastructure target in the city of Kharkiv  and other settlements in Kharkiv Oblast on the morning of 10 October, causing power and water outages in several of the city’s neighbourhoods.

Quote from Terekhov: "Preliminary reports suggest Kharkiv was hit three times. An energy infrastructure target was hit. Power went out in several of the city’s neighbourhoods, there are water outages.

Oblenergo [public energy supplier in Kharkiv Oblast - ed.] experts and municipal workers are doing everything they can to restore vital infrastructure in Kharkiv."

Details: Later, Terekhov, on the 24/7 national newscast, said the following: "Since morning, we’ve observed attacks and strikes on critical infrastructure that supports everyday activity in the city. Currently, Kharkiv is completely cut off from the grid: no electricity, so no water supplies, accordingly."  

"We halted the subway. Evacuated people; there are people at a station. Currently, the subway works as bomb shelter. Unfortunately, the subway is the main shelter in Kharkiv," the Mayor added. 

Terekhov also said that the city had been shelled from MLRS; Russians used rockets to destroy the infrastructure. 

Quote by Syniehubov: "The enemy has been landing missile strikes on Kharkiv and critical infrastructure in Kharkiv Oblast. The targets were damaged. There could be electricity and water outages for some time."  

Details: Syniehubov has also reported explosions in Kharkiv. He urged the residents of the city of Kharkiv and Kharkiv Oblast to remain in shelters until an all-clear sounds.

Suspilne reports that after the 10 October morning attack on Kharkiv, ground traffic has been halted, except for the subway, which currently works as bomb shelter. 

There’s no water in the city; local internet providers report connection failures. 

Kharkivoblenergo, the regional company that provides electricity supply across Kharkiv Oblast, reports that Russians have been hitting the oblast’s critical infrastructure, but repair crews continue working, doing everything they can to restore electricity supply as soon as possible. 

The air-raid alert was sounded over all of Ukraine at 07:28, and it’s still on in most oblasts; in Kharkiv Oblast, it began at 06:47.

On the morning of 10 October, explosions thundered in Kyiv, Lviv, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Konotop [Sumy Oblast]. Russians attacked civilians and energy infrastructure.
