Russian occupiers held civilians at checkpoint in Zaporizhzhia Oblast for 2 days, beating and inspecting

Ivan Fedorov, the Mayor of Melitopol, reported that Russian invaders continue to terrorise civilians on the temporarily occupied territory; in particular, Russian occupiers have detained and inspected people at the checkpoint in the city of Vasylivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, for two days.

Quote from Fedorov: "Russian occupiers have held hostage civilians who tried to pass through the enemy checkpoint in Vasylivka for almost two days. Eight cars, of those civilians who spent the night in Vasylivka in the cold, were not allowed to pass.

Some of them have immediately been sent back to Zaporizhzhia. And some were ‘taken for a ride’. Firstly, they were taken to the commandant's office of occupied Melitopol, and then returned back to Vasylivka."

Details: According to the mayor, the Russians have checked all of the people "too intensively", and used physical force against some unarmed civilians, beating them with the butt of a rifle.

Fedorov added that the occupiers did not explain their actions. The people who had suffered this terror for two days were forced to return to Zaporizhzhia in the end.

Background: Fedorov noted that on 2 December, Russian occupiers forced people who had been going from Zaporizhzhia to support their relatives in the occupation to spend the night on the roadside in subzero temperatures.
