Details: It is noted that information about an explosion in Belarus began to spread in Ukrainian Telegram channels. Data from Belarusian analysts indicate that it was not an explosion, but probably an engine surge.

Around 11:00 (Minsk time), residents of Maladziečna district (Minsk Oblast) heard a loud explosion in the sky; a lot of people wrote that it shook windows in houses both in Maladziečna itself and in the suburbs.

According to the monitoring group Belaruski Hajun, at exactly this time, and more precisely at 10:59 (Kyiv time), over the Maladziečna district, a MiG-31K fighter jet of the Russian Air Force (RF-95194) caught fire in one of its two engines, which was accompanied by an explosion sound – in fact, it was a sound of the engine surging after ignition.

As a result, MiG-31K PKS of the Russian Federation (RF-95194) was forced to end the flight urgently and return to the airfield Machulishchy.

According to Hajun, the engine caught fire in the same MiG-31K that was on fire on 25 December 2022, during an attempt to take off from the airfield in Machulishchy.

Background: On the morning of 19 January, an air-raid siren was announced throughout Ukraine. The danger lasted a little more than 1.5 hours.

Belaruski Hajun reported that fighters and an AWACS aircraft have taken off in Belarus.

The Russian MiG-31K can potentially carry hypersonic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles, against which Ukrainian air defence is powerless. Due to this, an air-raid siren is being announced throughout Ukraine.
