Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC), has said that groups from Chechnya [Federal Subject of Russia – ed.], who have been fighting against Ukraine since 24 February are now working as "emergency workers" in Türkiye and may be deployed to Moldova.

Quote: "Let's not say that nothing has happened in Moldova. You know that the country's leadership is currently undergoing a change, and the power bloc is being strengthened as much as possible," he said.

Details: Danilov recalled that Ukrainian intelligence had warned Moldova that Russia was planning to stage a coup d'état there in the near future.

Quote: "Russia really wants it [Moldova] to ‘catch fire’ once again, to have a point of tension that we should pay maximum attention to," Danilov said.

In this context, he mentioned the Kadyrovites [the Chechen forces subject to Kadyrov that fight as part of the Russian army – ed.] who have been fighting against Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

Quote: "Some of those scum who were part of the so-called ‘Chechen group’ here on our territory on 24-25-26 February are now in a completely different part of the world. They are currently working as "emergency workers" in Türkiye. We are now monitoring this situation thoroughly to ensure that these 'rescue workers' do not end up in Chișinău. We know their names, surnames, and patronymics. We were tracking them attentively at the time. They have had a personal task since 24 February," Danilov added.

Background: At the EU summit in Brussels last week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian intelligence had intercepted the Kremlin's plans to take control of Moldova. Following this, the Ukrainian leader immediately passed all the information to his Moldovan counterpart, President Maia Sandu.

The Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova confirmed that the Moldovan side had received information from Ukraine regarding Russia's intentions to conduct a campaign to destabilise the situation in the country.
