The number of Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine has increased by more than 200 people, and every fifth has surrendered voluntarily in recent weeks.

Source: Interfax-Ukraine, referring to Andrii Yusov, the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine

Quote from Yusov: "Our exchange fund has increased by more than 200 Russian prisoners of war in just a few weeks of active actions by the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces, both defensive and offensive."

Details: The intelligence official reports that this means that "it will be easier and more active to bring back our people".

Yusov also added that every fifth Russian out of this number surrendered voluntarily. At the same time, three or five Russian soldiers are captured daily under the state programme Hochu Zhit (I want to live). [The Ukrainian state project Hochu Zhit (I want to live) was set up to help soldiers of the Russian army safely surrender to the Armed Forces of Ukraine - ed.]
