6 Ukrainian pilots killed in the crash of 2 helicopters in Donetsk Oblast

On Tuesday, 29 August, two military helicopters crashed in Donetsk Oblast under unknown circumstances; the crews were killed, and criminal proceedings were opened.

Details: On 29 August, Mi-8 military helicopters crashed in Kramatorsk Raion of Donetsk Oblast. The aircraft were completely destroyed.

According to the sources of Ukrainska Pravda, the bodies of six dead servicemen were found at the scene.

The Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations includes data on the grounds of criminal offences under Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "Violation of flight rules or preparation for them is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to fifteen years."

The investigation is being handled by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Rakita, speaker of the 18th Separate Army Aviation Brigade named after Igor Sikorskyi,  said that the victims had officer ranks. One of them is originally from Poltava Oblast, the rest are from other regions of Ukraine. People will be able to say farewell to the pilots on 1 September in Poltava.
