China is considering the opportunity of participation in the peace conference focused on Ukraine, which Switzerland plans to hold this year.

Details: Wang stated that China is following the plans of the negotiations closely and "looking into the possibility of participating".

Background:

  • Switzerland agreed to organise a "peace summit" on Ukraine’s request, which was reported by both countries during the visit of Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Bern on 15 January. Both countries have started preparing for the meeting.
  • Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported that more than 160 countries would be invited to the summit but Russia is not among them.
