Quote: "We are stepping up the work to bring the occupiers to justice. There must be a case before the International Court - and there will be. For everything they have done against Ukraine, against our people, for every act of terrorism by Russian troops in our country. The Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine and law enforcement officers have already started this work.

It is also important to start the activity of the investigative team of the International Criminal Court in Ukraine, which together with our law enforcement officials is already collecting all the evidence, the facts regarding war crimes by the invaders of our country. Every last one will receive a legal response, a clear and legal one.

I spoke today to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Karim Khan. He is already in Ukraine and has already started working. Therefore, the occupiers will be responsible for all the war crimes committed against Ukrainians. "

Earlier: On February 28, Karim Khan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, decided to launch an investigation into Russia's war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine. He noted that Ukraine is not a state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, so Ukraine cannot refer the situation to his office.

Khan stated that there is a reasonable basis to believe that the Russians had committed both war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine.

Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, launched a full-scale war against Ukraine on 24 February 2022, after eight years of hybrid war and the occupation of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk.

From the first days of the war, the Russian Federation hit residential areas in Ukrainian cities, destroying them and killing civilians. Later, the aggressor besieged cities, killing people with hunger and thirst.
