Church damaged by shelling in Kharkiv, fire damages houses and cafes in Chuhuiv district

Rescuers from the Kharkiv Station of the State Emergency Service have extinguished two fires caused by shelling, including in Kharkiv itself and the Chuhuiv district of the Oblast, within a 24-hour period from 22 to 23 May.

Details: At 12:40 on 22 May, a fragment of a Russian shell hit a private residence in the Kyivsky district of Kharkiv. Household items caught fire as a result.

Rescuers from the 22nd Fire and Rescue Unit quickly extinguished the fire over an area of approximately 1.5 square metres, preventing it from spreading.

Employees from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were also in the Kyivsky district of Kharkiv, as the midday round of shelling had affected private houses and the Orthodox Church, where the rescuers worked on removing window frames and glass.

Rescue work was carried out in a damaged building in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv.

On the night of 23 May, at 01:55 there was shelling of a settlement in the Chuhuiv district. Fire broke out there immediately in 4 private houses, 2 outbuildings, a shop and a cafe over a total area of about 400 sq.m.

Rescuers from the 50th Fire and Rescue Unit fought this fire and managed to fully extinguish it at 04:50.

In total, the rescuers were called out 19 times during the day, including for 10 fires, 1 emergency rescue, and 6 call-outs to help local inhabitants and police officers, etc.
