On Tuesday, 12 July, the Russian occupiers have once again blocked the road from the occupied city of Melitopol to Zaporizhzhia.

Details: At the moment, the occupiers won’t let people pass through the Vasylivka checkpoint in the direction of Zaporizhzhia.
Quote: "The Ruscists are so afraid of the counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine that they’re using thousands of civilians as a human shield. The whole city is being held hostage. It is unknown how long the blockade will continue, but we’re doing everything we can to lift it".
Background:
- In May, Russians blocked the passage through the Vasylivka checkpoint. After a continuous blockade of nearly 1000 cars, the occupiers finally let people pass through to territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.
- In April, the Russian occupiers also refused to let people pass through the checkpoint. People were trying to evacuate from Melitopol in their own vehicles.
