Details: Andriushchenko stated that Russians enhanced control after Dmitry Berdnikov became the self-proclaimed head of the occupation administration in Mariupol.

The advisor to the mayor adds that the new Russian-backed administration head threatens the citizens with criminal liability for "extremism" if "anyone is unhappy with something".

Before Mariupol, Berdnikov was mayor of the Russian city of Irkutsk and deputy head of the government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Background:

  • Earlier, the Special Operations Forces reported that Kostiantyn Ivashchenko, the self-proclaimed head of the occupying administration of Mariupol, was removed from power and replaced with a Russian, Dmitry Berdnikov.
  • Recently, Andriushchenko reported that the Russian occupiers are planning to conduct a new wave of "clean-up operations" in Mariupol in order to suppress the dissatisfaction of locals.
