Zelenskyy on Russia’s retreat from Kherson: No one leaves just like that

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are moving forward cautiously in the south of Ukraine in order that the counteroffensive may proceed with minimum losses, as the Russians are not going to surrender their positions without a fight.

Quote: "The biggest fight is now going on in Donetsk Oblast… We are standing, we are not surrendering anything… As for the south - we are moving forward little by little, strengthening our positions step by step.

There is a lot of joy in the information space today - and it is understandable why. But our emotions should be discreet - as always during the war.

I definitely will not feed the enemy with all the details of our operations. In the south, in the east, wherever else - when there is our result, everyone will see it. Surely.

Maybe, this doesn't sound like someone expects it to now. Maybe, not like in the news. But we have to understand: no one leaves places just like that unless they feel power. The enemy is not giving us gifts or making ‘goodwill gestures’. We are fighting for it."

Details: The President pointed out that every step of deliberation triggers the Russians’ resistance, which leads to losses among the Ukrainian soldiers. Therefore, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are moving forward "very cautiously, attentively, without undue risk" in order to liberate Ukrainian land with minimum losses.

"This is exactly how we are going to ensure the liberation of Kherson, Kakhovka, Donetsk, and other cities in our country.

But this will be a result of our efforts, our defence operations. Those that are currently going on and those that we are still being planned," the President stressed.

According to Zelenksyy, this was discussed this morning at a regular meeting of the staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine.
