Background:

  • On behalf of Lukashenko, on 13 December, Belarus suddenly started combat readiness checks, as the army was supposed to transfer some equipment closer to the border with Ukraine.
  • One of the military units was assigned the task of covering and protecting an object on the southern border of the country, that is on the border with Ukraine.
  • The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported on 13 December that it did not register units on the border with Belarus that were capable of carrying out an invasion. The Service considers the announced check of combat readiness of the Belarusian army to escalate the situation.
