Fundraising campaign for 10,000 kamikaze drones closed in 3 days

Ukrainians have donated UAH 235 million (US$6.3 million) in three days to a fundraising initiative organised by UNITED24 platform, Come Back Alive Foundation and Monobank to buy 10,000 kamikaze drones.

Details: Horokhovskyi posted a short video announcing that the required UAH 235 million had already been raised.

Background:

  • The UNITED24 platform, Come Back Alive Foundation and Monobank announced a UAH 235 million (US$6.3 million) fundraising campaign on the morning of 14 August to buy 10,000 kamikaze drones. Over UAH 35 million (approximately US$1 million) were collected in the first three hours.
  • In June 2022, Ukrainians transferred 600 million hryvnias [roughly US$16.1 million] in three days to Serhii Prytula, founder of the Serhii Prytula Charity Foundation, and blogger Ihor Lachenkov to purchase four Bayraktar drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  • In November 2022, Ukrainians donated 236 million hryvnias [roughly US$6.33 million] to Prytula in a day and a half to buy 60 Spartan armoured personnel carriers for the Armed Forces, although Prytula initially planned to raise money for 50.
