A member of Kherson City Council belonging to the "We Are the Ones Who Live Here" party is suspected of treason: during the war he has been providing the Russian side with information about Ukrainian patriots in the region, finding homes for the Russian military, and supporting Russian propaganda.

Details: Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a deputy of the Kherson City Council from the political party " We Are the Ones Who Live Here" was charged with treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Detention is prescribed as a no-alternative precautionary measure.

According to the investigation, the Kherson City Council member, acting contrary to his oath of alliegance, sided with the occupiers.

In order to discredit the current government, he actively participated in the creation of pro-Russian propaganda media materials about the arrival of "Russian World" in the Kherson region."

Details: The Security Service Office in Kherson Region is carrying out the pre-trial investigation for criminal proceedings. If convicted, the suspect faces life imprisonment and confiscation of property.

"Igor Kolykhayev's party" We Are the Ones Who Live Here " is well represented in the Kherson City Council, and on 15 November, 2020, Igor Kolykhayev himself was elected mayor of Kherson.

On 19 April, Igor Kolykhayev publicly addressed the central government about how the city authorities could work under Russian occupation.

On 5 April, Kolykhayev reported that "well-wishers" had leaked the complete database of all Ukrainian activists in Kherson to the Russians.
