Russians launch new missile strike on Dniester Estuary bridge in south west Ukraine

The Russian occupying forces have once again launched a missile strike on the railway bridge over the mouth of the Dniester Estuary in Zatoka in the Odesa region.

Literally: "So, at night, 2 more cruise missile strikes on the bridge across the Dniester Estuary were recorded. The bridge has been out of operation for more than two weeks.. 

The bridge is so damaged that repairs will take a lot of time and money. But the repairs are currently impossible, as is the operation of the bridge." 

Details: Over the Mykolaiv region, air defence shot down a cruise missile fired by a Russian strategic bomber over the Caspian Sea.

According to OC "South", the cruise missile was moving in the direction of the western oblasts of Ukraine.

During the night of 17 May, Ukrainian defenders in the southern oblasts of Ukraine launched 60 artillery strikes on enemy positions. At least 20 Russian soldiers have been killed and several armoured vehicles and mortars destroyed.

Ukrainian intelligence notes that Russian invaders are putting pressure on the local population in the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, urging them to join the quasi-formations of the so-called "KhNR" or support the region's annexation to Russia.

Background:

  •     On 10 May, the Russians launched the fourth missile strike on the bridge across the Dniester Estuary. The first shelling of the bridge occurred on 26 April, the second - on 27 April. On 2 May, Russian troops launched a rocket attack on the same bridge for the third time.
  •     On the night of 17 May, air defenсe shot down three Russian cruise missiles in the sky over the Lviv region.
  •     Also on the night of 17 May, In an artillery strike, Ukrainian troops destroyed a fuel and lubricants warehouse of the invaders in Chernobayevka near Kherson.
  •     In the afternoon of 16 May the Russians shelled the city centre of Mykolaiv with cluster munitions, which are forbidden by international conventions.
