Federal Security Service urges Belarusian military to go to war in Ukraine if necessary – General Staff

Russian special services are conducting explanatory work among the Belarusian military about the need to go to war in Ukraine if necessary.

Quote from Hromov: "Employees of the Federal Security Service, other law enforcement agencies of Russia and officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus are currently conducting explanatory work among the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Belarus regarding the need to participate in the so-called special operation on the territory of Ukraine, but only if necessary."

Details: Russians conduct political training during exercises with Special Forces units and amphibious assault troops.

The authorities are also recruiting former Special Forces and pilots to the League Military Company. The goal is the same – to attract former servicemen to fight in Ukraine.

Background:

  • On 1 July, it became known that the exercises of the Armed Forces of Belarus at the country's training grounds continued at least until 9 July.
  • On 3 July self-proclaimed president of Belarus Alcontinuedexander Lukashenko stated that the union of Belarus and Russia has long created a single army and that the participation of Belarus in the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine is "long since determined".
  • On 4 July head of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov reported, according to Ukrainian intelligence, that there are currently minor Russian military forces in Belarus, and there is no build-up.
