Hospitals in northern Crimea overcrowded with wounded Russian soldiers

According to Ukrainian authorities, hospitals in the cities of temporarily occupied Crimea Armyansk, Krasnoperekopsk, and Dzhankoy are overcrowded with wounded Russian soldiers, while civilians are being sent to hospitals in Simferopol.

Details: The agency also reported on the activities of Russian Federation forces on the peninsula.

On the afternoon of 4 March, 18 trucks marked "Z" were spotted heading in the direction from Feodosia to Dzhankoy. In the opposite direction, 4 trucks and 2 anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes (possibly damaged) were seen.

Also, a new sign was noticed on the equipment of Russian forces– a white ⧖ was marked on a Tigr, an all-terrain infantry mobility vehicle.

Approximately between 15:30 - 16:00 on 5 March, a column of 23 military vehicles passed by Dzhankoy via Kerch by railway. According to eyewitnesses, columns like these have been seen 3 days in a row.

Additionally, a Russian submarine was spotted near Gurzuf, and Russian fighters and bombers were repeatedly spotted in the sky.

According to the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC, they have information that on February 24 –the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine– Russian forces placed artillery in the courtyards of private estates in the north of Crimea.

Background:

  • On 26 February, journalists reported that a hospital in Krasnoperekopsk, near the administrative border with the Kherson region, was overcrowded with wounded Russian servicemen.
  • Earlier, Ukrainian authorities called on residents of the occupied Crimea who could potentially be mobilised by the Russian Federation to sabotage the Russian operation and surrender to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to survive, and to avoid taking part in Russian war crimes.
  • Mobilised Crimean people are being used by Russian military command to attack Donbas.
  • On 2 March, Russian journalists learned that hospitals in Belgorod, less than 50 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, were overcrowded with wounded Russian military personnel.
  • Ukrainian intelligence has learned that Russia is mobilising residents of the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and plan to relocate them to the forefront of the assaults on Kharkiv and Kyiv as "cannon fodder."
