Russian troops attack railway station in the Zhytomyr region: Korosten attacked last night

After the strikes on Malyn, the Russians fired missiles at Korosten in the Zhytomyr region. In the early morning hours of 23 May, one missile was shot down while another damaged railway infrastructure.

Quote: "We’ve had a restless day. Yesterday, around 1:40 a.m., we had a ‘landing’ at Malyn Station, where we have at least one dead and several wounded. We sustained significant damage to about 150 homes, stores, the school was hit again, besides other minor damage.

This has been repeated since Friday, 20 May – the ‘arrivals’ are almost in the same place. We had just begun helping people, rebuilding windows, roofs and other damage like that.

At around 2 and 4 o’clock in the morning, explosions took place in the town of Korosten. At 4 o’clock, a missile hit the railway infrastructure. At 2 o’clock, the air defence went into operation,  and the missile wreckage simply fell onto one of the residential areas, where there was no significant damage. Fortunately, no one was injured in the night attacks."

Details: This is the third rocket attack in the Zhytomyr region in the last three days.

Bunechko claimed that "the Zhytomyr region has again come into the focus of attention of the enemy", as there was shelling in the northern regions of the region. He asked not to ignore the alarm signals.

Background:

On May 20, a rocket attack on the town of Malyn damaged infrastructure and nearly 100 homes, injuring three people.

On May 22, Malyn’s air defence system destroyed four Russian cruise missiles, but the city was still hit by a missile. An employee of Ukrzaliznytsia was killed, three other employees of Ukrzaliznytsia and one resident of Malyn were injured.

On the night of May 23, Russian troops launched a new missile strike on the Zhytomyr region. It was reported that the missile damaged an industrial facility, while the falling wreckage of another missile damaged three houses in Korosten.
