The Russian invaders are moving additional forces to the south of Ukraine, and in particular to Kherson Oblast, but the Ukrainians are aiming to liberate the occupied territories.

Details: Danilov was asked to comment on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's remarks to the (visiting) US congressional delegation that Ukraine has only a few weeks left to take back territories seized by Russia before it becomes much more difficult to do so.

Quote from Danilov: "The enemy is moving the maximum number (of forces - ed.)... a very powerful movement of their troops has begun on the Kherson front, and they are moving in additional forces. I know for sure that our troops are planning to do everything they can to meet the deadlines set by the president.

I want to say that in any case the victory will be ours - whether a week earlier or a week later. Everyone is tasked with victory, with the goal of expelling the enemy from our country as soon as possible."

Details: The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council also noted that at present, the increase in the supply of weapons to Ukraine "is very powerful". The Ukrainian defenders’ ability to use these weapons precisely could be seen on the Antonivka Bridge in Kherson.

Background:

  • Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, said that the "geographical objectives" of the war had changed due to the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, and he threatened that Russia would seize new territories in the event that long-range weapons were to be provided to Ukraine.
  • On 26 July, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that Ukraine will definitely retaliate against Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.
